An SMS reseller is a partner who sells bulk SMS to their own customers on a platform they did not build. The reseller owns the customer relationship, onboarding and billing; the platform owns the carrier connections, delivery, sender ID approvals and reporting. On Ontech BulkSMS, resellers earn commission on every credit top-up their customers make.
How the reseller programme works
- Apply. Fill in the partner application: who you are, where you operate, the volume you expect and how you plan to sell. There is no joining fee.
- Get approved. Every application is reviewed by a person. Most decisions are emailed within two business days, with your partner login and your commission terms.
- Onboard customers. Create customer accounts under your partnership, or share your personal referral link — anyone who signs up through it is permanently attributed to you.
- Earn. Each time one of your customers buys credits, commission accrues to your account. Track it on your Commissions page, on the web and in the mobile app.
- Withdraw. Request a withdrawal to mobile money; it is reviewed and released by the platform and paid out.
How commission is calculated
Your commission rate is resolved in this order:
- a specific rate agreed for your account, if one has been set; otherwise
- a volume band based on your customers' total top-ups in the current calendar month — currently nine bands rising from 5% to 20%, so a growing customer base earns a rising rate (the live table in your portal governs); otherwise
- the platform default rate.
The rate applied to each top-up is fixed at the time it happens and never recalculated, so a later band change cannot reduce what you have already earned. The live band table and your current standing are shown on your Commissions page and on your dashboard. The Reseller Agreement deliberately points to that live table rather than fixing percentages in the contract.

Who becomes an SMS reseller in Zambia
IT service companies adding messaging to what they already sell; web and software developers whose clients need notifications; marketing agencies running campaigns for several brands; and individuals with a network in a sector — schools, churches, cooperatives — who can sign organisations up faster than a platform can reach them. The industry guides are written to be shared with prospective customers.
What you do not need
- No infrastructure. Carrier connections, sender ID handling with the networks, delivery reporting and the platform itself are Ontech's job.
- No stock. Customers buy credits through the platform by mobile money and your commission accrues from those purchases; you can allocate credits yourself, but you are not required to hold a float.
- No exclusivity. You choose your customers and your coverage area.
Sender IDs for your customers
Each of your customers can request their own branded sender ID (up to 11 characters) with an authorization letter on their letterhead, so messages arrive from their name, not yours. Approval follows the same single process as any other account.
Ready to apply?
The application takes a couple of minutes and asks you to accept the Reseller Agreement, the Terms & Acceptable Use and the Privacy notice. If you just want to send SMS for your own business, create a customer account instead.
